THE PHYSICAL HOME OF ALVARA
We are working to secure 150+ acres of land in San Diego, California, as the physical home of ALVARA and a living expression of everything we stand for.
ALVARA Sanctuary is three things in one. It is the ALVARA Vitality campus, where MycoNectar™ is made, where our team lives and works, and where every piece of our content is filmed. It is a haven for healing and gathering, home of Front Line Vitality and Stewards of the Hive. And it is a land stewardship collective, 150+ acres cared for by ALVARA and our partners, held for generations.

CEO, primary steward of the land
Our CEO, Jared Angaza, will live on the property with his family and serve as the primary steward of the land, working with the Land Stewardship Council to ensure that care for this place is woven into every day.
ALVARA works at the level of the human nervous system.
Stewards of the Hive works at the level of the planetary nervous system.
The bees are the bridge, the living proof that inner coherence and outer coherence are not separate projects.
They are one.
HOW WE’RE BUILDING THIS
ALVARA Sanctuary is a collective effort. We are convening a Land Stewardship Council, a small group of aligned stewards, philanthropic leaders, and land and conservation experts, to secure this land together, govern it together, and care for it together.
Two founding partners are seated alongside ALVARA: The Ecology Center, a regenerative organic farm and education center that will bring its agricultural expertise and operational capacity to the land, and San Pedro Institute, devoted to the conservation, cultivation, and research of San Pedro cactus. ALVARA convenes and leads the Council; our partners participate as stewards of the whole.
The Council’s first work is to recommend how the land is best held, drawing on land trust, conservation, and cooperative stewardship models already working across the world, and to establish shared principles for water, soil, habitat, fire, and access that hold regardless of ownership lines.
We are here to steward this land, to cultivate a pollinator haven, to tend the hives, to grow what the soil wants to grow, and to hold a beautiful space for our community to gather and co-create.
Every Council member participates in decisions about the land, its use, its care, and its future. The land is held in common, and the Council recommends the structure that protects it best.
We draw from land trust, conservation co-tenancy, and cooperative stewardship frameworks already working across the world, and we honor what works.
We are here as stewards. The land’s long-term flourishing guides every decision, economic, ecological, and communal. Ownership is a tool in service of that, never the point.
THE COLLECTIVE
Regenerative agriculture · ecological stewardship · education
A regenerative organic farm and education center in San Juan Capistrano, California, and a hub for Southern California’s ecological movement since 2008. The Ecology Center brings the farming systems, expertise, people, and operational capacity to steward a landscape of this scale.
Conservation · cultivation · research · education
Devoted to the conservation, cultivation, research, and stewardship of San Pedro. SPI will steward its living collection on the land, with The Ecology Center as its farming partner.
POLLINATOR HABITAT
At the center of the Sanctuary is a commitment to the bees. We are building a pollinator habitat designed to house the bee colonies that will produce the raw honey at the foundation of MycoNectar™ and future products.
Working with apiculture and permaculture experts, we will plant the forage first. Native plantings and diverse pollinator habitat go in during the first year, before the hives scale, and the colonies are managed with reciprocity rather than extraction. The Sanctuary is also where veterans and first responders in our Front Line Vitality programs learn and practice hive stewardship.
Over time, we will open the Sanctuary to other honey companies, beekeepers, and land-based businesses who want to learn how to bring regenerative bee stewardship into their own operations.
PRODUCTION & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
The Sanctuary is where MycoNectar™ will be made. A purpose-built production facility, developed to cGMP standards, brings production onto the same ground where the bees live and the botanicals grow, with the ALVARA Lab inside it for quality control, formulation, and product research. Third-party laboratories continue to verify every batch.
Alongside it, our apothecary and R&D kitchen is where Ty Clark and Dr. Glen Rein develop new formulations, prepare ingredients, and refine the craft. We will grow select herbs and botanicals on the property, feeding directly into current products and future work. The land becomes part of the supply chain.
COMMUNITY & RETREATS
ALVARA Sanctuary will be a gathering place for our community, our partners, and the people we serve. We will host vitality retreats, educational workshops with our stewardship partners, corporate wellness experiences, and community events on the land. Every piece of ALVARA content is filmed here: the land is the studio.
Veteran and first-responder organizations are welcome to gather here for their own events, alongside our Front Line Vitality programs.
FRONT LINE VITALITY
The Sanctuary is the physical home of Front Line Vitality. Veterans, active duty military, and first responders will come here for recovery and resilience programs, for training in beekeeping and regenerative agriculture, for community, and over time for work on the campus.
Their organizations are encouraged to host their own gatherings on the land. Our intent is that first responders across the region come to see this place as their haven.
REGENERATIVE BY DESIGN
We are restoring a piece of land. Working with permaculture specialists and our stewardship partners, we will develop the Sanctuary as a regenerative site, improving soil health, establishing and enhancing native habitat, increasing biodiversity, and creating systems that give back more than they take.
The whole property is designed as a closed loop: greywater recycled from every facility, composting toilets, a community composting area open to our neighbors, and near-zero waste from production and living. Fire mitigation is built into the land plan from day one, and we intend to be the example for how a property in this region cares for itself and its community.
The goal is to make the land healthier each year than the year before. This is what symbiosis looks like in practice.

ALVARA FOUNDATION · 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT
ALVARA Sanctuary is the physical home of ALVARA Foundation, our independent 501(c)(3) organization. The Foundation operates two core programs from the Sanctuary.
Pollinator conservation, bee habitat development, public education, and building a collective of organizations devoted to the vitality of pollinators and the ecosystems that depend on them.
Recovery, resilience, and community programming dedicated to the sustained vitality of veterans, active duty military, and first responders, headquartered at the Sanctuary. Led by ALVARA co-founder Jamieson Slough, a USMC Major and F/A-18 Hornet pilot.
SUPPORT THE SANCTUARY
The land is available, and we are working with our partners and the Land Stewardship Council to secure it and to build the campus that brings it to life.
There are three ways in. Investors can participate in the campus and its operations. Donors can help secure the land itself for long-term stewardship and support the Foundation’s programs on it. Organizations, veteran and first-responder groups, practitioners, conservation and land-based partners, Indigenous Wisdom Keepers and their communities, can bring their programs to the land.
